At First 5 California, they fund programs that educate parents, grandparents, caregivers, and teachers about the critical role played during a child’s first five years. Since their creation in 1998, they’ve supported millions of families with programs and services designed to help more California kids grow up healthy and ready to succeed in school and in life.

The promise of First 5 California is to continue to invest in integrated programs and resources designed to benefit three target audiences: the Child, the Teacher, and the Parent. Current efforts focus on the areas of nutrition, early literacy and language development, and smoking cessation, among others.

Wherever you live in California, a First 5 county commission is there to help you. These 58 county commissions fund local service providers, health and learning programs, and resources tailored to meet the needs of your family and community.
